Laptop Hard Drive

Hi. Mate has to replace Dell hard drive (defective) with new one,can data on old hard drive be recovered? Jim

Depends on how dead the hard drive was but yeah should be able to. I laptop has option for a second disk drop it in there - or buy a usb adapter - should still be able to see the files on it.

His L/Top does not recognise the hard drive so getting a new one to replace.Is it a case of putting in the startup cd's that came with L/Top to get it working again. Jim

If you put the startup cd's in it will restore to how it came out of the factory - IE with factory programs on. In this instance will do the job to get back up and running - worry about the data from the other one at a later time
