I have just joined your forum recently.

I have no real problems so far but find the way you have the date set rather difficult.

Currently all dates on the site are in American format, that is month-day-year.

Since all your participants are in UK, how about a format we are all used to ie. day-month-year. Today for example would be 09-12-2008.

Keep up the good work.

Im used to it now, took me a while though!

Ive had a quick look in user control and we cant alter it for individual users, its somthing that has to be done for the whole board!

Its somthing The Gaffer may look at.

Thanks for the possitive feedback.

Ah.
You are way ahead of me. I hadn't even considered having special treatment with my own version of the date.
Anyway, if you struggled a bit and I don't find it easy either, then there must be many others out there with the same problem.
I'll leave it with the pair of you.

Matt

Should have said you cant alter it via your user control pannel! :roflmao: .

Sorry :lookaround:

I have another little problem.

When I copy and paste a table from Word into the topic submit reply, it appears in the submit reply page correctly in a table format.

However, when I then preview the post, it has lost the table format and is just a list of numbers and words.

Any suggestions?

Victor.

Matt

Dont think you can copy and paste off word, Karl will probably know why. But you can attatch a word document. To do this click the little paper clip you can see above the reply box. Brouse your computer to find the document and click upload, and submit. Then in your post it will have a little box saying view attahment. Hope thats some help to you.

If your still having trouble just ask!

Thanks

Matt

Thanks,
I could attach the word document I suppose, but it was rather large and only the table was of interest.
It's easy enough to make a word document of just that table and attach that as second best!
Thanks for your quick reply,
Victor.

Its probably best to make a new word document with just the table in and attach it to the thread. Word formats tables different to Html so can't copy and paste to here.

Can you help with this please.

In a recent post I refered to a previous thread and wanted the thread to open at a particular post.

See here post #9 (another example of the problem!)

http://www.coachdriverforum.co.uk/welcome/showthread.php?t=4929

in my post I wished to have the link open up directly at post #12.

How do I do it.

I am sure I have seen it done in other sites.

Victor.

like this

In a previous posting as above you showed me how to make a link to a particular posting in a thread.

Now, how would I go about 'condensing' this down to a one word link which, when clicked, would do the same as clicking on the original longer link.

I think this is called a hyperlink but I could be wrong!

Victor.

The Gaffer

1) write the word in the post IE: Click Here, then highlite it

2) add the hyperlink as you normaly would

3) Hey Presto

Victor Meldrew
05-04-09, 07:01 PM
Got it.

The bit I was missing was the 'as you normally would'

I have previously right clicked, but here its that little earth globe link ikon at the top.

Thanks,

Victor.

Click on the forum you want the thread in then you will notice in the top left hand corner above the threads a button that says ' new thread '

Away you go :thumb_yello:

Something's not quite right.

I tried this hyperlink thingy again today as above and it would not work to my satisfaction.

See here

I wanted to make the words 'Unity Fatigue' a hyperlink but all it would give me was the Compassion fatigue arrangement and I hadn't even entered the words compassion fatigue!

I'll bet it's my old finger trouble again.

Have you copied & pasted the words as it looks like you have a image in there.

Type the word you want, Highlite it, then cut the link from the page you want to link to, add the link with the http://www.coachdriverforum.co.uk/welcome/images/createlink.gif above the reply box

Victor Meldrew
27-04-09, 02:10 PM
That's what I did. No messing with images or anything complicated.

Just copied from the address bar up at the top of my screen on the target site, then pasted it into the lower hyperlink box that says URL and left the top box at http. I have tried it again here. Lets see what happens.

Bikers Site (http://www.bikersoracle.com/central/forum/)

Well it's working now. Clearly trouble with my fingers.

Must pay more attention in class!

Thanks,

Victor.

PS. How did you manage to put the hyperlink ikon into the text. Good trick that. V M

How do you wrap url tags around a link without writing them in manually ?

example - www.coachdriverforum.co.uk (http://www.coachdriverforum.co.uk) to CDF (http://www.coachdriverforum.co.uk)

Matt
